Virginia Cooperative Extension will be offering low-cost household water testing to residents in Orange, Madison and Greene counties is September. Participation in the testing clinic includes analysis for 14 chemicals and bacteriological constituents (iron, manganese, nitrate, lead, arsenic, fluoride, sulfate, pH, total dissolved solids, hardness, sodium, copper, total coliform bacteria and E coli. Bacteria).

The fee for the analysis is $60, including a $5 scholarship provided by the Culpeper Soil and Water Conservation District. Comparable analysis at a private commercial lab would cost several hundred dollars.
